Hog Ring Pliers 9-Gauge

The HRP5 Commercial grade Hog Ring Pliers with Magazine installs 9-Ga. (3.8 mm) collated aluminum rings or exclusive 9-Ga. (3.8 mm) collated steel rings.  Easily secures 7-Ga. (4.5 mm) wire to 9-Ga. (3.8 mm) chain link fence.

Designed to address the most stringent regulatory codes, this commercial grade hog ring pliers ensures uninterrupted operation to quickly install extra secure Malco 9 Ga. (3.8 mm) collated aluminum rings or exclusive 9 Ga. (3.8 mm) collated steel rings anywhere along a chain link fence.  Long handles save time and effort with plenty of leverage and reach.  The 25-count strips of collated rings can be loaded into the pliers’ symmetrical magazine from either direction.  A plunger feed automatically sets up each ring.  There is no need to manually rotate the magazine out of the way as the pliers’ clinching mechanism brings the ring forward of the nose for easy access to tension wire and fence.  The magazine easily folds down for safe and easy storage of tool.

Can Malco’s hog rings be used in other hog ring pliers?

No, Malco’s collated HRA5 aluminum and HRS5 steel hog rings for attaching tension wire to chain link fencing are designed specifically to be used only in Malco’s HRP5 Hog Ring Pliers.

Can other hog rings be used in Malco’s HRP5 Hog Ring Pliers?

No, Malco’s collated HRA5 aluminum and HRS5 steel hog rings for attaching tension wire to chain link fencing are designed specifically to be used only in Malco’s HRP5 Hog Ring Pliers. We do not know of any other hog rings that can be used in Malco’s HRP5.

Do HRA5 and HRS5 hog rings meet government requirements?

Yes, Malco’s hog rings are manufactured with “true” 9 gauge hog ring wire diameter measuring at .148 inches. Many hog rings are marketed as 9-gauge however, they are not manufactured with a full .148 wire diameter. Malco’s steel hog rings have a Class 3 coating in accordance with ASTM A641 and Malco’s aluminum hog rings are made from aluminum alloy 6061-T94 or 5052-H38.

The overlap clinching creates a more secure connection than a standard side-by-side clinch.

What is the common spacing used when installing the tension wire?

Hog rings are attached tension wire to chain link fencing at a spacing of 12” to 24” mostly commonly every 24”. One box of Malco collated hog rings will secure a 1000’ bale of tension wire to the chain link fence spaced at 24” intervals.

Are there replacement parts available?

No, we have heat treated all of the functional components to give the tool a long life; it also eliminates the need to offer replacement parts.

Can Malco’s 9 gauge galvanized hog rings be used to join 6 gauge sheep and goat panels (4” x 4” opening)?

Using the HRP5 to install galvanized hog rings

We really enjoy using the HRP5 to install galvanized hog rings on commercial chainlink projects. It really saved time and was easy on the backs of the workers.

Smoother Crimp Motion

Smoother crimp motion than other models. Also vinyl post to rail remover tool is awesome. It's going to help us greatly. Good design and larger handle than similar products we have seen.

Should have bought this years ago

This thing is a real work/time saver. Simple to operate, the only issue is it sometimes is a bit tricky in tight spots due to the magazine. You will find lots of uses for this thing after you have it.
